Private jet booked for hunger-striker deportation

The Home Office have chartered a private jet in their bid to deport hunger-striker Isa Muazu to Nigeria on Friday, campaigners told Corporate Watch. The flight number matches Air Scotland Charter Ltd, a small aviation firm who manage Lord Sugar’s plane.

Muazu has not eaten for 90 days, in protest at the Home Office’s treatment of his asylum claim and his detention in Harmondsworth Immigration Removal Centre outside Heathrow.

The Home Office had hoped to deport Muazu on a Virgin Atlantic flight this evening, until medical warnings forced them to cancel.

Air Charter Scotland refused to comment to Corporate Watch about whether their clients included the Home Office.

The company recently flew singer Mary J Blige to Lagos, Nigeria.

The small fleet has only a handful of aircraft capable of carrying out a deportation flight.

One of their jets, a Legacy 600, is the same model as the aircraft used to deport radical preacher Abu Qatada to Jordan. Another, a Legacy 650, is Apprentice star Lord Sugar’s private plane.
